Dimensional Precision in MIM

Requires close process control in each of the following steps:

  1. Feedstock preparation
  2. Molding
  3. Debinding
  4. Sintering

Dimensional shrinkage depends on:
  1. As-molded density (close to feedstock density) which
depends on the metal loading in the feedstock
  2. Total weight loss from molded weight to sintered weight
  3. Sintered density (Heat treatment can change density and size)

Advanced Metalworking helps you with excellent lot-to-lot consistency of ADVAMET
R feedstock quality as shown by pycnometer density. In addition, we can adjust binder content (metal loading) to achieve target shrinkage. This is valuable to customers for attaining required part dimensions while minimizing the need for mold modifications.
